Authentic Thai Restaurant in the Heart of Malta
From Thailand with Love
Since childhood Nok Debono had a passion for cooking. She worked in a restaurant in Thailand for number of years before moving to Malta with her husband Roger.
From the first day it was her dream to bring all the rich flavours of Thai’s cuisine to Malta and share it with others.
Nok dreamed about opening a restaurant, Roger had his fair share in restaurant business before and he didn’t want to open a new restaurant. So as it’s often happens with man vs. women argument, they compromised and opened the restaurant.
Our restaurant is a family-friendly place, where locals and foreigners alike can enjoy authentic Thai food.
We make sure our menu has something special for everyone and we take pride in a vast selection of vegetarian and children options on our menu.
We also provide gluten-free options if required. Chang Thai is a place where everyone is able to find something suitable!
Thai Food Culture
Thailand is known worldwide not only for being a beautiful country with delicious food but also for its welcoming people. Thais love to share their culture just as much as they love to share their food.
Learn few facts about the rich culture and tradition of this stunning Asian country.
Celebration of Food
In Thailand any celebration always equaled dining, and not long after, dining began to be a celebration itself, without a need of any special occasion.
Friends and family gather together to eat and share food as a part of their everyday life.
As in Thai culture dining alone is perceived as bad luck, sure enough no one want to take any chances!
Sharing is Caring
As Thais love to share, their usual dining don’t match western style, with a tradition of ordering appetizer, main course and dessert.
Instead, in Thailand people usually order same number of dishes as people present and share them among each other.
Everything on the table can be tasted, regardless of who ordered the dish.

Forks & Spoons
Asian cuisine as a whole is often associated with chopsticks. Although chopstick were introduced in Thailand centuries ago, they were never a traditional cutlery of Thais.
Instead, Thai food was eaten with hands, usually seating on mats or carpets on the floor.
Nowadays most people eat their food with fork and spoon, spoon being held in the right hand.
